Product description
3003 aluminium foil at 0.1 mm in H18 is heavy technical stock for parts that must stay flat and stay stiff, supplied 1200 mm wide on 76 mm or 152 mm cores.
At the top of the foil range the material stops behaving like a wrapping and starts behaving like a thin panel. It is handled as a part, cut on a shear or a punch, and assembled with fasteners or adhesive rather than folded around a product.
3003 carries manganese, and at this gauge that addition is what keeps a large flat part from oil-canning between its fixings. H18 is a hard temper, chosen when the part leaves the tool finished and there is no forming step left to soften it.
The questions that decide the specification are geometric: how flat the part has to sit against a face, how straight the cut edge has to be over a long length, and whether the part is finished or still gets a bend. A heavy gauge in a hard temper will not forgive a tool that is set to run a thin web, and a part that still needs forming is better specified in a softer temper from the same gauge band.
Because the sheet is thicker, edge quality and flatness travel further downstream than they do on thin foil. A burr that would be harmless at 0.03 mm becomes a handling and assembly problem here, which is why the slit or sheared edge is specified rather than assumed.
Typical uses include stiff technical parts, formed panels and spacers where flatness and rigidity matter more than ductility.
Minimum order quantity is 3 MT per size, and loading is from Qingdao, Tianjin or Shanghai. Send the part drawing, the width and the fixing pattern, and we will confirm the specification that fits.
