Product description
3004 aluminium foil at 0.12 mm in H18 is heavy technical stock for parts that carry a load and hold a shape, supplied 1200 mm wide on 76 mm or 152 mm cores.
3004 carries both manganese and magnesium, which is why it is chosen where a plain grade would be too soft for the job. At this gauge the material is no longer a wrapping at all: it is cut, punched or formed as a component and then fixed in place.
H18 is a fully hard temper. It is the right choice when the part is finished as it leaves the tool, and the wrong choice if a bend or a draw still has to happen, because there is almost no ductility left to give.
What decides a specification at 0.12 mm is mostly geometric. How flat the part must sit against a mating face, how straight a long cut edge must be, and whether the part is stiffened by its own shape or by the assembly around it. A heavy gauge in a hard temper will not compensate for a tool that was set to run thin stock.
Because the strip is thick, the edge travels with the part all the way to assembly. A burr or a wave that would be harmless on thin foil becomes a fit problem here, so the edge condition is specified rather than assumed.
Typical uses include load-bearing technical parts, stiff panels and structural spacers where rigidity and flatness are the reason for the purchase.
Minimum order quantity is 3 MT per size, and loading is from Qingdao, Tianjin or Shanghai. Send the part drawing, the fixing pattern and the edge requirement, and we will confirm the specification that fits.
