Product description
8021 aluminium foil at 0.045 mm in O temper is a forming grade, supplied 800 mm wide on 76 mm or 152 mm cores.
The pharmaceutical range quotes lidding from 0.02 mm to 0.03 mm, and then steps to the heavier gauges where the cavity itself has to be drawn. At 0.045 mm this product belongs to that second group: it is not a lid, it is the material the pocket is formed from.
Forming changes which properties matter. A lid only has to seal and peel. A formed base has to stretch into a cavity without thinning to the point where one wall becomes the weak part of the pack, and without springing back when the tool opens. That is why the gauge is settled together with the draw depth and the corner radius, and why a foil that measures correctly on the flat can still fail in the pocket.
O temper is fully soft, which is what a deep draw asks for. The metal flows into the tool instead of resisting it, and the wall stays as even as the tool and the blank holder allow. The trade is that the formed part has little stiffness of its own, so where the pack has to stand up, that stiffness comes from the laminate rather than from the foil.
What the draw does not change is the requirement underneath: gauge consistency across the width, because a heavy stripe on one edge becomes a thin wall on one side of the pocket; a surface the laminating line can bond to; and an edge clean enough that no sliver travels into the tool.
Typical uses include cold-form blister bases, deep-drawn pockets and forming stock for pharmaceutical laminates.
Minimum order quantity is 3 MT per size, and loading is from Qingdao, Tianjin or Shanghai. Send the draw depth, the corner radius and the width you need, and we will confirm the specification that fits.
