Product description
8021 aluminium foil at 0.06 mm in O temper is packaging stock for trays and lids that have to stay rigid, supplied 1200 mm wide on 76 mm or 152 mm cores.
8021 was developed for packaging rather than for general engineering. Its job is to give a pack more strength at a given gauge than a plain grade would, so a tray wall can be thinner and a lid can survive a deeper form without cracking at the corner.
The O temper is deliberate. In a packaging alloy, strength comes from the composition; the temper is left soft so the material can still be drawn. A customer who hardens the same gauge gains stiffness and loses draw depth, which is a trade this grade is usually bought to avoid.
At 0.06 mm the stock hangs between two behaviours. It presses into a shallow tray with a defined rim without support, and it still folds flat at a seam. That makes it useful where the pack has to look like a formed container but the filling line handles it like a wrapper.
The properties that matter on the roll are consistency across the width and a flat, clean face. A stock that varies will not draw evenly around a rim, and a face that carries residue will print badly after the tray is formed.
Typical uses include strong tray stock, formed lids and shaped packaging where rigidity is the reason for the purchase.
Minimum order quantity is 3 MT per size, and loading is from Qingdao, Tianjin or Shanghai. Send the tray drawing and the filling line, and we will confirm the specification that fits.
